Setting the scene…
Tranmere Rovers host Accrington Stanley at Prenton Park in their third consecutive home fixture on Saturday afternoon, kick-off 3pm.
Micky Mellon’s men welcome John Coleman’s Stanley to the Wirral in Sky Bet League One.
Rovers will be aiming for a third straight win in all competitions after beating Manchester United U21s 3-2 in the Leasing.com Trophy on Wednesday night following on from a 5-1 victory over Chichester City in the Emirates FA Cup last Sunday.
Meanwhile, Accrington head into the game after putting seven past Bolton Wanderers in a 7-1 triumph at the Wham Stadium last time out.
Tranmere could move up to 16th should they earn three points and if results go their way this weekend.
Team news
Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is doubtful after being stretchered off on Wednesday with a leg injury, which is less serious than first feared.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has returned to parent club Manchester United for treatment on a hip injury.
Mark Ellis, Evan Gumbs, Ishmael Miller, Harvey Gilmour and Ollie Banks all remain injured.
One to Watch
Nottingham-born forward Colby Bishop leads Accrington Stanley’s goal scoring charts so far this season, with nine to his name.
The 23-year-old signed for the East Lancashire outfit back in July and has since gone onto impress in his first few months at the Wham Stadium.
Bishop started out at hometown club Notts County, turning professional at Meadow Lane prior to dropping down to Non-League level where he turned out for Gloucester City, Worcester City, Boston United and Leamington.
Signing for Accrington in an undisclosed fee in the summer, Bishop will be one to watch out for on Saturday.
