Match Preview: AFC Wimbledon

20 December 2019

Setting the scene…

Tranmere Rovers host AFC Wimbledon in their penultimate home fixture of 2019 at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon, kick-off 3pm.

Micky Mellon’s men will be aiming to return to winning ways against the Dons following on from a narrow defeat away to Lincoln City.

Standing in their way are Glyn Hodges’ side, who beat Doncaster Rovers 2-1 at Kingsmeadow last time out.

Team news

Corey Blackett-Taylor is suspended for the visit of AFC Wimbledon after being sent off against Lincoln.

Captain Scott Davies, Mark Ellis, Evan Gumbs, Ishmael Miller, Harvey Gilmour, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Ollie Banks all remain out.

Morgan Ferrier is available after a calf injury.

One to watch

Finland U21 international Marcus Forss has impressed during his loan stay at AFC Wimbledon from Sky Bet Championship outfit Brentford.

Forss has been on target regularly for the Dons this term, leading the club’s goal scoring charts in the process with ten goals to his name so far.

Forss was in the academy system at West Bromwich Albion before moving onto Brentford, turning professional with the Bees in 2018.

He has made eight league appearances in the second-tier for his parent side, prior to his temporary switch to Kingsmeadow in the summer.

And the 20-year-old has become a key member of AFC Wimbledon's squad this term.
