Setting the scene...

Tranmere Rovers start 2020 with a Sky Bet League One New Year's Day fixture against Coventry City at Prenton Park, kick-off 3pm.

Micky Mellon's men will be looking to build on Sunday's 1-1 home draw with Blackpool.

Mark Robins' Coventry visit the Wirral in fifth position following their 4-1 victory at leaders Wycombe Wanderers last weekend.

Team news

Liam Ridehalgh, Kane Wilson and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy are doubts following recent injuries.

Scott Davies, Mark Ellis, Ollie Banks, Ishmael Miller, Evan Gumbs and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson are all out injured.

Jordan Ponticelli is unavailable to play as a result of his loan agreement with the Sky Blues.

One to watch

Having recently returned from injury, forward Matt Godden is back in action as Coventry City push for promotion.

The Canterbury-born forward was a summer signing from Peterborough United following on from a season with the Posh.

Godden, 28, started his career after turning professional at Scunthorpe United and he has also represented Brigg Town, Ilkeston Town, Gainsborough Trinity, Dartford and Tamworth.

After a loan at Ebbsfleet, he moved to the club permanently in 2014, prior to going onto feature for Stevenage, Peterborough and now Coventry.
