Match Preview: Manchester United U21s

4 December 2019

Setting the scene…

Tranmere Rovers are back at Prenton Park on Wednesday night when they host Manchester United U21s in the Leasing.com Trophy second-round, kick-off 7:45pm.

Micky Mellon’s men will be hoping to make it two wins on the spin after Morgan Ferrier’s hat-trick and Corey Blackett-Taylor’s double defeated Chichester City 5-1 in the Emirates FA Cup second-round on Sunday.

Focus now turns to another cup competition, as Neil Wood brings his young Red Devils to the Wirral.

Team news

Mark Ellis, Evan Gumbs, Ishmael Miller and Ollie Banks all remain out of action for the visit of Manchester United U21s.

Micky Mellon is expected to many a number of changes for this game from the team who played on Sunday against Chichester City.

One to Watch

Welsh youth international Dylan Levitt made his first-team debut in last Thursday’s UEFA Europa League fixture against Astana in Kazakhstan.

Levitt began his career in the youth system at Old Trafford, penning professional terms at the end of the 2018/19 season.

The 19-year-olkd is capped by Wales at U17, U19 and U21 level, and was called up to Ryan Giggs’ senior squad in May.
