Micky's Lincoln reaction

14 December 2019

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon was frustrated for his side as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon.

John Akinde’s winner with 13 minutes to play saw Rovers leave Sincil Bank empty handed.

Tranmere played with ten men for over an hour following Corey Blackett-Taylor’s sending off for two bookable offences.

And Mellon had his say on the loss in Lincolnshire to the local media after full-time.

Mellon said: “I’m really frustrated for them as a team and I know the frustration that they feel, because they gave everything that they had and looked the better team.

“We looked the better side until the sending off and then we had to go into a different shape, but up to then, we were the better team.

“Aaron (Chapman) was hardly tested. We’ve lost a game of football, and the players gave everything.

“They just need to keep showing those battling qualities which they showed today, and on another day, we’ll hopefully get more things go our way.”

Mellon praised the SWA, with over 300 in the away end backing the lads throughout the 90 minutes.

He added: “The fans were fantastic again on a cold day, and they got right behind them as usual.”
