Perkins looking to kick on over Christmas

Tranmere Rovers midfielder David Perkins fancies his side’s chances over the Christmas period, ahead of Saturday’s home fixture against AFC Wimbledon.

Micky Mellon’s men host the Dons at Prenton Park in Sky Bet League One, before travelling to Burton Albion on Boxing Day.

Rovers then welcome Blackpool and Coventry City to the Wirral, and Perkins is hopeful of a successful run of results heading into the New Year.

And speaking to the local media in his pre-match press conference, Perkins previewed the contest with Glyn Hodges outfit this weekend.

Perkins said: “It’s a big period and there is no hiding from that. If we can pick up three wins, it would be fantastic.

“You always fancy us at home when the crowd get behind us. We go into the games with a little extra confidence.

“We have got a good squad and you’d like to think throughout the course of a season, you get your just rewards and you end up where you end up.”

Perkins knows that Tranmere can kick-on with a positive chain of wins, and that they can take momentum into January’s busy schedule.

He added: “We are working hard, and we know where we are at going into a busy period, and it is about getting that right and heading towards mid table.

“If you can take momentum into January, and we have a few games, you can really look forward to kick on.”
