Rovers Rewind: Lincoln 2016

13 December 2019

For each fixture this season, take a trip down memory lane to recall a memorable Tranmere Rovers match against each of our Sky Bet League One opponents.

Micky Mellon takes his side over to Sincil Bank, where Lincoln City await in the third-tier on Saturday.

And we will rewind three years ago to our 3-2 victory over the Imps, which came in March 2016 at Prenton Park, when both sides competed at National League level.

Goals from James Norwood, Jake Kirby and substitute Adam Mekki ensured that Rovers triumphed on the Wirral.

Tranmere were in front from the penalty spot courtesy of Norwood, after Jeff Hughes’ effort had been handled by Bradley Wood.

Lincoln drew level when George Maris powered a header beyond Scott Davies three minutes later, but Gary Brabin’s men restored their advantage when Kirby struck a hooked shot.

Robbie McDaid equalised on 73 minutes before Mekki’s deflected winner for Rovers.

TRFC: Davies, Vaughan, McNulty, Harris, Hill, Ihiekwe, Kirby, (Mekki 64) Jennings, Hughes, Taylor-Fletcher, (Fenwick 75) Norwood
