Super White Christmas to run again this year to help under privileged community!

9 December 2019

Tranmere Rovers Football Club are delighted to announce that for the third year in a row, we are running ‘Super White Christmas’ which will involve collections, parties and fun events to help under privileged people in Wirral enjoy their Christmas.

In line with the Club’s community ticket initiative, which enables disadvantaged local people to attend Tranmere Rovers matches at Prenton Park, the Super White Christmas Appeal will help both children and adults enjoy some of the festive experiences which most of us take for granted.

After the success of last year’s appeal with nearly 100 people participating in our Christmas programmes, we felt that the impact that it had on the community was something we wanted to replicate in 2019.

A Christmas party for children aged 6-14 will take place on Saturday 7th December at 12pm prior to our home match against Accrington Stanley.

On Sunday 29th December, before our home game against Blackpool, we will be hosting an event for adults in need. We are inviting adults who are suffering from loneliness, homelessness or would just need cheering up over the Christmas Period who we think would benefit from this event.

We hope to give adults who might not be able to access a hot meal, someone to talk to or a safe place over Christmas with something to look forward to.

The event will be hosted on 29th December for up to 50 adults in need at the Tranmere Rovers Recreation Centre, Borough Road from 12-2pm. There will be a hot meal, entertainment, and a gift given to each adult in attendance. As well as a ticket for entry into the Tranmere Rovers vs Blackpool game held straight after the event. The adults can join in with as much or as little as they would like to.

Places are limited to 50 and we need to have confirmed numbers by Friday 13th December. Please RSVP to Steve Williams on 0151 608 2354 or email SteveW@tranmererovers.co.uk

On Christmas Day, we will be welcoming care leavers to Prenton Park for Christmas dinner and some festive activities to enjoy!

We are privileged to have the facilities and amazing volunteers to help make Christmas Day more enjoyable for those that need it.

Tranmere Rovers Managing Director Dawn Tolcher said: “Building on the success of Super White Christmas in previous years, this year we are hosting events for young people in care and those who may not have someone to celebrate Christmas with.

"Every year we are overwhelmed by the amazing response from our fans and the local community who not only provide gift donations but also give up their time to help those most in need during the festive period.

"We see first-hand the impact that Super White Christmas has and hope this year’s appeal will be just as successful as the last in ensuring that everyone can have a happy Christmas.”

We are also looking for donations of non-perishable foods, warm clothing, toiletries and cash donations to be given out at the community events as part of this initiative, and again, you can drop items off at the Tranmere Rovers Club Store or the Recreation Centre.

To cover costs and any additional gifts, we are openly looking for a sponsor to get involved in this appeal and to support what we are doing to help our local community that may not get to experience what some of us do at this time of year.

If you would to like to sponsor our Super White Christmas Appeal then please contact our commercial team on 0151 609 3390 or email commercial@tranmererovers.co.uk
