As part of our SWA2 initiative and encouraging our younger supporters to come to Prenton Park, we asked you to send in your best SWA2 pictures for our billboard outside of the ground…
One picture that we received was from Danny Winnerton. He sent us a picture of his son, Thomas, aged five. As a thank you, we invited Thomas for a ground tour along with his dad Danny and his sister Abbie.
Thomas got to go pitch side and sit in the dugouts before getting his picture underneath James Norwood’s shirt in the dressing room, Thomas’ favourite player. It took all of his strength to lift the Play-Off final trophy out of our cabinet as well as sitting in the ‘comfy seats’ in the Main Stand.
Danny said “When we noticed the billboard both me and my lad were made up. He (Thomas) loves the Club and when he saw his face up there, he was amazed.”
“The picture come from his birthday after he got his new Tranmere shirt. I sent it in for him to be part of the SWA2, the next generation of Tranmere fans.”
A big part of the matchday experience at Prenton Park is seeing the different generations of families come together and this is no different for Danny and his family.
“I bring my son and daughter to the games. My dad brought me from a young age and he’s been going for years. It’s something in the family that I’m hoping to carry on.”
You can watch the full video of his SWA2 experience below. If you would like to get involved in our SWA2 initiative and appear on our next billboard, please email your picture to TonyC@tranmererovers.co.uk
