Micky's Swindon reaction

19 January 2019

Manager Micky Mellon shared his thoughts after Tranmere’s 2-1 loss at home to Swindon Town on Saturday.

Speaking to the local press, the manager said: “We didn’t get anything going in the first half and it didn’t help when Ishmael Miller went off with an injury.

“The second half performance was more like us, but we gave ourselves an awful lot to do by being 2-0 down at half time. In terms of effort and fight, they gave us everything they had in the second half, but we gave ourselves too much to do.

“We gave away poor goals and probably passed the ball poorly at times when we had opportunities to keep control of the game. Our movement ahead of the ball wasn’t aggressive enough and we didn’t move sharply enough in the first half. The second half was an improvement.

“Ishmael seems to have a wee bit of a hamstring problem with the sprint he did going through on goal, so we will see how he is in the next 24 hours.”
