Tranmere Rovers have completed the permanent signing of Rochdale midfielder David Perkins on an 18-month contract.
Perkins brings a wealth of EFL experience to Prenton Park, having made more than 600 professional appearances, with the majority of those coming in the Championship and League One.
A two-time League One champion at Wigan Athletic, Manager Micky Mellon was pleased to have Perkins on board, a player he knows very well from their days at Barnsley.
“I have worked with David a lot in the past,” admitted the boss. “He will instantly become a key member of the team.
“He has won promotions and he will bring great experience and energy levels to the squad. He is a great addition to the group.”
Perkins, who played in the pre-season friendly against Tranmere for Rochdale in 2018, revealed it was an easy decision to make and he now wants to add another promotion to his CV.
“As soon as I found out there was interest from Tranmere, I was keen to join, it is a great football club. I am looking forward to challenge and hopefully we can push for promotion.
“I will bring a lot of experience to the team and hopefully I can chip in with a few goals and help the younger lads.
“A lot of players I have played with have played for Tranmere Rovers, most recently Max Power, and he couldn’t speak highly enough of the Club.
“It is a massive football club and I can’t wait to get started.”
