#SWA2: Aidan wins TRFC Christmas competition

9 January 2019

Tranmere Rovers supporter Paul admits his son, Aidan, aged 8, has never been as interested in a task as much as the competition ran by the Club over Christmas, to design the front cover of the TRFC matchday programme.

Hundreds of children entered with the chance to see their Tranmere Rovers related drawing on the front of our special edition double matchday programme for our League Two double header at Prenton Park against Morecambe and Yeovil Town.

The competition, which sits with the Club’s #SWA2 initiative, was seen as a huge success and Aiden’s drawing was selected as winner by the Tranmere’s latest signing, midfielder Harvey Gilmour.

Aiden, accompanied by his dad, Paul, was presented with a framed copy of his drawing, which was signed by the full Tranmere Rovers squad, prior to the FA Cup tie against Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Paul, said: “I am really proud of him. He did very well, he should have been asleep, but I went upstairs, and the drawing was there complete on his bedroom floor.  He has never got into anything so much as this and he was so happy.

“It is a fantastic idea and it really gets the children thinking and their imaginations going. He collects matchday programmes anyway so the fact he has now actually designed one which will last forever, it is amazing.”

Competition winner Aidan added: “I was meant to go to bed but I couldn’t stop thinking about the drawing and I really wanted to make a Tranmere Rovers Christmas badge.”
