Rover and Out attend Liverpool Pride 2019

28 July 2019

Tranmere Rovers had a presence at Liverpool Pride on Saturday when the Club’s LBGT+ fan group, Rover and Out, took part in the annual march for the second year running.

Despite the rain, it didn’t stop around 40 of the Rover and Out group members making the journey across the River Mersey for a day of celebration.

Rover and Out were joined on the day by LBGT+ fan groups from Merseyside’s Premier League duo of Liverpool and Everton.

Bringing a Tranmere Rovers theme to the event, the group sang songs including the Tequila chant which was adopted by the SWA in last term’s promotion-winning campaign.

Adam Siddorn, co-founder of Rover and Out, who also commentates for TRFC Radio, gave an insight to how the group started and his reaction to Liverpool Pride 2019.

Siddorn said: “About a year ago, Nina Crombie and I sat down and a lot of clubs are doing are doing that and with Tranmere Rovers back in the EFL, we thought we should do that and show how inclusive we are as a football club.

“We had about 40 people there and last year we had 15 the year before so it shows the progress that we have made as a group.

“For ourselves, we doubled our attendance from last year and it just shows for our group, the support we have and the support that we have had from the Club.

“We got to Georgian Hall and off we went, the march took about half an hour to 40 minutes and we played a few Rovers songs, sang Tequila. Liverpool and Everton groups were both there, so we are lucky that we have supportive local clubs.”
