Tranmere Rovers can announce that goalkeeper Scott Davies is the Club’s new captain for the 2019/20 season.
The 32-year-old, who won the Sky Bet League Two Golden Glove award for 2018/19 after keeping 21-clean sheets, has made 176 league appearances since signing in July 2015.
Since his arrival, Davies has been a key part in helping Micky Mellon’s side to two promotions in a row, from the Vanarama National League to Sky Bet League One under the Wembley Stadium arch.
The Blackpool native was an ever-present for TRFC last term, featuring in all 46 league games as Rovers returned to the third-tier for the first time since 2014.
The shot-stopper revealed his pride at becoming captain of Tranmere Rovers, as he succeeds Steve McNulty in the role.
Davies, who lists Morecambe, Fleetwood Town and Accrington Stanley as his former Clubs, will skipper Tranmere is relishing the opportunity to skipper the Rovers in Sky Bet League One and praised the SWA for their support.
Davies said: “I’m massively proud. I love it here at Tranmere and I’ve got a great relationship with the manager and it is a huge honour and one that I’m very proud of.
“We’re back in League One, the fans are on board, the whole town is buzzing so hopefully we can kick on again this season and give the fans something more to shout about.
“If you stick together on and off the field then you’ve got a better chance of success and over the last couple of years that has been the case and going forward long may that continue.
“I don’t think it changes me as a player, I’m a character and a talker anyway, I’m incredibly proud and if I need to help people along the way then obviously I’ll do so, there’s other experienced lads in this team and in this league you need it, myself and the other experienced lads will help the younger lads along.”
