Morris: The SWA played a key part in my return

26 June 2019

Kieron Morris is confident about Tranmere Rovers’ chances in Sky Bet League One next season after he sealed his permanent return to Prenton Park on a two-year deal.

Hereford-born midfielder Morris, 25, spent the second half of last term on loan from Walsall, making 14 appearances as he was a part of Micky Mellon’s side who earned promotion by winning the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final as Rovers beat Newport County 1-0 at Wembley Stadium to seal a back-to-back promotion.

And the former loan star admits that Tranmere Rovers were the only Club for him after a successful temporary stay at Prenton Park.

Morris said: “It’s been patient over the summer, but we’ve managed to get the deal done and I’m glad.

“About two weeks ago I was speaking to my agent and he was saying to me that Tranmere were keen to get the deal and this is the Club that I wanted to come to.

“I know a lot of the players here, it’s a great Club and I’m confident about next season. I can’t wait for the season to start, I’m really excited and I’m raring to go.

“I’ve got a lot of experience of playing in League One. We have got the players and we have got ability in the team.”

Morris revealed that one of the key factors in him deciding to return to TRFC on a permanent deal was the support that the SWA had shown him in his initial loan spell on the Wirral.

He added: “Wembley was amazing, the fanbase we had there, the number of fans we took down there and the atmosphere that they made.

“That’s how good the fans are, and that was one of the reasons why I wanted to come back here as I knew what the fans were like when I first came here, they are amazing, they boost your confidence and they help the lads on.”

Kieron and his Tranmere team mates will be in action on the Thursday 11th July against Champions League winners, Liverpool, at Prenton Park. Kick-off for the game is 7:30pm and you can buy tickets now by CLICKING HERE.
