Davies: We're all fighting in the same direction as a team

8 March 2019

Goalkeeper Scott Davies hopes that Tranmere Rovers can take advantage of the upcoming home double-header of fixtures in League Two, starting with Crewe Alexandra on Friday night.

Micky Mellon’s side host the Railwaymen under the lights as Friday night football returns to Prenton Park, with TRFC up to sixth in the fourth-tier following three straight wins in the division.

And ahead of the clash with David Artell’s men, keeper Davies has highlighted the importance of the two home games against Crewe and Grimsby Town next Tuesday and the part that the SWA can play.

Davies said: “It is a big game, it is an important game, we have put ourselves in a good position, we can take advantage of those two home games.

“We have gone back to the training ground and worked hard, we’ve put the hours in and is paying dividends, we just have to continue that form.

“We are up there with the most clean sheets in the league, so when you take that over a season, it’s not been all bad, so we just have to concentrate and do what we are good at and more often than not, when we do that we come away with what we are looking for.

“Five weeks ago, you were asking me questions about if we could still get in the Play-Offs, so we are taking it one game at a time, we’ve worked hard to put ourselves in the position that we have now and we’ll take it a game at a time and see where it takes us.

“The game at their (Crewe’s) place, I think it was at a time where we were scoring more but were loose at the back, so we were disappointed with a defeat that day having scored a couple of goals ourselves.

“We know that they are all about, they are a good footballing team with attacking threat, I know the manager well, I played with him at Morecambe, so they always put out a good side.

“Most of the night games you play at Prenton Park, the fans seem to be up for it more, when we played on a Friday night earlier in the season there was a decent crowd there, so hopefully we can match that, when we’re all fighting in the same direction as a team, we get better results so hopefully that is the case on Friday.”
