Norwood: We are taking it one game at a time

30 March 2019

Tranmere Rovers top goalscorer James Norwood admits the team are taking it a game at a time following the 3-0 win against Carlisle United.

More than 8,000 fans watched on as Rovers secured their seventh league win on the spin with Norwood grabbing his 29th of the season, sandwiched between two bullet headers from Ollie Banks and Manny Monthe.

Tranmere’s number ten spoke to the local media after the win. He said: “As soon as we scored the first goal, they had to come out and that is where we are strong.

“Jake Caprice crossing was fantastic today and so was Rides’ (Liam Ridehalgh). I have given Jake a tough time over the course of the season for his crossing, but he pulled it out of the bag today and if that continues, we will score a lot of goals.

“I work a lot on getting in the right places and this season more than most, it is paying off. My goals are not all one way and it is nice if people are worrying about me, it opens up space for other players.

“If I am out of the game then there is a lot of space for other players, just like Connor Jennings creates space for me, it is a great partnership.

“It is a cliché, but we are taking one game at a time and that is the way we have to play it. We focus on taking three points every single game.

“It will be a massive game on Tuesday. It wouldn’t surprise me if we completely sell out and practically be the home team again. The support today, you could tell it was a bumper crowd, they stayed with us and we needed them. The fans have been great for us!”
