RIP Ray Davies

21 March 2019

The Club was sad to hear of the passing during this week of former player Ray Davies, aged 88.

A popular figure during his time at Prenton Park, Ray was particularly instrumental in assisting Rovers to a headline-grabbing 1-1 draw with First Division Tottenham Hotspur in the Third Round of the FA Cup in January 1953, a performance which won him the ‘man of the match’ award on the day.

Ray had joined the Club in 1951, and went on to make 136 appearances and score 29 goals as a winger, before playing his final first team match in October 1957.

The Club offers its deepest sympathies to all of Ray’s family and friends.
