Ferrier ready for Fleetwood test

22 November 2019

Tranmere Rovers forward Morgan Ferrier believes that the squad are becoming closer together, as they prepare for Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture away at Fleetwood Town.

Micky Mellon’s Rovers are aiming for a second straight away victory when they travel to Highbury for a clash against Joey Barton’s Cod Army.

Ferrier, 25, who scored in Wednesday’s 2-1 win at Wycombe Wanderers in the Emirates FA Cup first-round replay, is optimistic that everything is falling into place.

He said: “I think that we are a close-knit group, everyone wants to do more for each other, whether it’s from the start or from the bench, and we’ve got players who can come in and bring unbelievable quality to the team.

“We are getting closer and closer, and that is starting to show on the pitch.”

“I feel that we are starting to bond, we have got a good mix of older lads who have been there and done it, and younger lads who are trying to make their way in the game who want to prove what they are about.

“It comes a lot from the older players in the group. When you’ve got the likes of Pottsy (Darren Potter), Dannzy (Neil Danns), Perks (David Perkins), Scotty (Scott Davies) and Woodsy (Calum Woods) in the squad, they are brilliant people to feed off as a younger player, it shows you what you have to do to get to a higher level.

“I was in League One last year, and with our quality that we have in our dressing room, it’s been hard this season as we’ve had a lot of injuries, it’s been disruptive, so I don’t feel like we’ve ever really had a chance to field everyone at the same time, and it’s mid-November, nearly December. “

Ferrier says that the squad want to work hard for the management staff, who put them through their paces at The Campus every day.

He added: “With the gaffer, Jacko and the staff here, every day they come in and you can see how much they want to work for the Club and how much they want to improve everyone so naturally as a player, when you go out there, you want to work hard for your manager and work hard for the Club.

“When you work hard all week from Monday to Friday, then you can get your reward on a Saturday.”
