Tranmere Rovers’ Futsal U16s side recorded an impressive 9-2 victory over their Crewe Alexandra counterparts in their National Youth League at the Fives Soccer Centre, Trafford, on Saturday.
Harvey Forster led the way with five goals, while Josh Banner scored twice, TJ Jones scoring once, and an own goal which completed the scoring.
Head of Futsal Paul Morrison was delighted with the U16s performance, both in an attacking and defensive display.
Morrison said: "We have worked hard on a very structured defensive shape which depends on each player working together as a group and it was pleasant on Saturday to see the players becoming disciplined in this shape and being effective at both defending and breaking up play in this formation."
Next Saturday, the U16s are in Warrington where they will compete in an FA Regional Tournament to decide who represents Cheshire in the FA Futsal Cup, which will be played at St George’s Park.
Meanwhile, TRFC’s Elite Development U11 Futsal team are at the same venue, bidding to become U12 champions, after winning the U10s title last year.
