Ladies Report: Tranmere Rovers 2-1 West Didsbury and Chorlton

11 November 2019

Tranmere Rovers’ Ladies extended their lead at the top of the North West Regional League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over West Didsbury and Chorlton Women at Ellesmere Port on Sunday.

Rovers have now won seven of their nine league fixtures so far this term, collecting 21 points along the way, six clear of FC United of Manchester Women’s who are in second.

Danielle Riley and Olivia Hulmston were both on target as Tranmere came out with the three points against their opponents from Greater Manchester.

Early chances fell for the visitors, with Vicky Frisby going close, before Rovers took the lead on the half-hour mark when Riley slotted in from close-range following a cross.

Following on from the break, West Didsbury and Chorlton levelled through Frisby’s 65th minute strike.

But on 74 minutes, Rovers’ win was sealed through Hulmston, who lifted the ball over the top of the goalkeeper after a punt upfield.

The top two go head to head next weekend as Tranmere welcome FC United of Manchester to Ellesmere Port for a 2pm kick-off.
