Match Preview: Wycombe Wanderers

15 November 2019

Setting the scene…

Tranmere Rovers play their third successive game at Prenton Park as Wycombe Wanderers visit the Wirral for a Sky Bet League One fixture on Sunday, 12pm kick-off in front of Sky’s television cameras.

Rovers host the Chairboys following last Saturday’s 2-2 draw in the Emirates FA Cup first-round tie, which will see an Adams Park replay on Wednesday night.

Tranmere will be looking to build upon their 3-1 win away to MK Dons two weeks ago, a result that moved them up to 18th.

Gareth Ainsworth’s promotion-hopefuls are second, having collected 33 points so far, losing just once.

Team News:

Evan Gumbs, Mark Ellis, Harvey Gilmour, Jordan Ponticelli and Ollie Banks are all out of the clash through injury.

One to Watch

Full-back Joe Jacobson has featured on more than 200 occasions following his arrival at Wycombe Wanderers in July 2014.

Welshman Jacobson began his playing career at hometown club Cardiff City, before signing permanently for Bristol Rovers having spent time on loan with the Pirates as well as Accrington Stanley.

Jacobson went onto represent Oldham Athletic, a return to Accrington, and Shrewsbury Town.

After playing 110 games for the Salop, Jacobson linked up with Wycombe, playing a key role in the club’s promotion up to Sky Bet League One in 2018
