Shaun Garnett visits Wirral Council's Children Care Christmas party!

28 November 2019

As a part of our Super White Christmas appeal, first-team coach Shaun Garnett and Managing Director Dawn Tolcher visited Wirral Council’s Children in Care Christmas Party on Wednesday night.

Shaun and Dawn represented the Club, with the council supporting children across the Wirral peninsula who are not able to remain at home and live either in foster care, or with a family friend.

Local council representatives were also in attendance as Tranmere Rovers continue to build links and help residents of the area through its TRIC projects.

Garnett engaged with the children and handed out gifts which included selection boxes and tickets for Rovers’ upcoming Sky Bet League One fixture against Accrington Stanley at Prenton Park on Saturday 7th December.

Garnett said: “It was a pleasure to be able to go along and get involved with their Christmas party.

“Whenever I can get out and about and give something back to the community I always will and hopefully the children will enjoy the match tickets.  We’ll look forward to seeing them at Prenton Park for the Accrington game.”

Tolcher added: “Being at heart of the Wirral community, we feel that it is our duty to help out whenever possible and we’re happy that we’ve been able to contribute to this.”

Beverley Hurst, Interim Head of Service for Wirral Council’s Fostering Team also commented. She said: “We have had really good support from Tranmere Rovers, Wirral Chamber of Commerce and some small business, which allowed this event to happen, it was well attended and more importantly the children enjoyed themselves.

“Shaun and Dawn were amazing, and I’m really pleased that Tranmere have supported us in getting the message out into the public domain.

“Shaun really got it and showed interest, so a massive thank you to him and Dawn for taking the time to come along and by working together, we can do some great things.”

The Club’s Super White Christmas Appeal will help both children and adults enjoy some of the festive experiences which most of us take for granted.

At the event, a hot meal, entertainment, and a gift will be given to each adult in attendance as well as a ticket for entry to our game against Blackpool.
