Wilson hoping for FA Cup run!

8 November 2019

Tranmere Rovers right-back Kane Wilson says that the SWA can give them an “advantage” when Wycombe Wanderers visit Prenton Park in the Emirates FA Cup First-Round on Saturday.

Micky Mellon’s men return home to the Wirral as they play Gareth Ainsworth’s side twice in the space of eight days.

And Wilson, 19, who is on loan from West Bromwich Albion, feels that the SWA give the players a lift and that they will play an important role heading into Saturday’s cup tie with the Chairboys.

Wilson said: “Since I’ve come, the SWA have been a big thing and when they do get behind you. I can only talk for myself but I’m sure other players feel the same, it can give you an extra five or 10 per cent, there’s no doubt about that.

“When they start singing and when the fans are getting behind you, it lifts everyone, it lifts the staff, it lifts us, and that’s a massive factor going into Saturday’s game and that can be an advantage.”

Wilson hopes that Rovers can enjoy an Emirates FA Cup run, and he believes that he and his team-mates can build on last weekend’s 3-1 away win at MK Dons.

He added: “I think, especially for the fans, it’s such fun in the FA Cup. It’s a cup game and you can really take that passion into those sort of games so it might be the best thing to build on that and keep building the confidence and see what happens.

“The FA Cup is fun, and hopefully we can come out on top on Saturday.

“The excitement of being a fan, I know exactly how they feel, so we can go onto that pitch and try and do it for them.

“It’s a massive thing in England, the FA Cup, whoever wins it, it’s a big accolade, and as a player, it would be nice to go on a run and it’s something I aspire for.”
