Danns looking for reaction on Saturday

25 October 2019

Midfielder Neil Danns admits that the squad need to “show a reaction” when Doncaster Rovers visit Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon.

Micky Mellon’s men are back in front of the SWA for the home fixture as Darren Moore’s side from South Yorkshire travel to the Wirral.

And Danns, 36, is confident that Rovers can put in a performance following Tuesday night’s defeat at former Premier League club Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Danns said: “We’re still confident and we still have that belief and the most important thing is now that we show a reaction.

“We’re under no illusions that there are some real big clubs in this league, but they are in this league for a reason so there’s no excuses, we’re in the same league as them and we have to compete better.

“We’ve competed well this season but now it is just taking it onto the next level.”

Danns says that the players owe it to boss Mellon to get a result this weekend and that three points will change the outlook of the table.

He added: “The gaffer is working with us on the training ground and we owe the gaffer a performance on Saturday.

“They are all tough games, we are where we are for a reason and we are not here to make up the numbers and on Saturday we need to perform.

“It is a tight league. League One and League Two are always tight leagues so a couple of wins on the bounce and you find yourselves a lot higher than where we are at the moment.”
