Tranmere Rovers’ Ladies extended their lead at the top of the North West Women’s Regional League to six points after beating Merseyrail 4-1 away from home on Sunday.
Backed by a number of the SWA who came down to show their support, Rovers’ built upon last weekend’s 6-1 triumph over Sir Tom Finney FC at their Ellesmere Port ground.
It was fantastic four for TRFC, with strikes from Helen Roberts, Georgia Walters, Lindsey Smith and Olivia Hulmston securing a fifth win in seven games to move the side onto 15 points.
Heading into the break at one apiece following on from Roberts’ effort, Rovers hit top gear after the interval and dominated the final 45 minutes.
Wales international Walters continued her fine form in front of goal by adding another, prior to Smith and Hulmston both being on target as Rovers secured a second straight three points.
It was another emphatic result for the Ladies, who are now six points ahead of their nearest opposition, the Manchester Stingers.
Next up for Tranmere Rovers Ladies is a trip to the Recreation Ground next Sunday afternoon, where West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC Women’s await the table-toppers as they aim for a third league win on the spin.
