Tranmere Rovers Ladies continued their lead at the summit of the North West Women’s Regional League with a 6-4 victory away at West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC Women’s on Sunday.
Now eight points clear at the top of the table having won six out of their eight games this term to stand on 18 points.
Olivia Hulmston scored five goals including a first-half hat-trick as Tranmere ran riot, going 4-2 up at the interval.
Lucia Molinari was also on target for Tranmere as they wrapped up a comfortable three-points in emphatic fashion.
Rovers’ first of the afternoon came early on through Hulmston who struck a well taken, low finish inside the six-yard box before Molinari added a second goal shortly after, neatly chipping over the goalkeeper from Walters’ through ball.
After conceding, Rovers restored a two-goal advantage through Hulmston, who lobbed the ball into the net from outside the penalty area on the half-hour mark.
It was a hat-trick for Hulmston when she beat her marker on the edge of the box to drive in her third and Rovers’ fourth.
Walters gave away a penalty before the end of the half which was converted as Rovers’ opponents halved the deficit.
Rovers’ back-line came under pressure following on from the restart at the Recreation Ground in Greater Manchester and let in a third goal early into the second-half.
Hulmston struck again, this time from 25-yards with a fierce shot which flew beyond the goalkeeper.
And she later added a fifth and TRFC’s sixth of a scintillating afternoon prior to West Didsbury and Chorlton pulling one back with five minutes of the action to play.
Next up for Tranmere’s Ladies as they aim to continue their fine form is a trip to Crewe Alexandra Women on Sunday 10th November, kick-off 2pm at the Cumberland Arena, Crewe.
