Setting the scene...

Tranmere Rovers hit the road on Sunday lunchtime when they travel to St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium for a Sky Bet League One fixture with Coventry City in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Kicking-off at 12pm, Micky Mellon’s men will look to build on Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa U21s at Prenton Park, which saw them progress to the knockout stage of the Leasing.com Trophy.

Mark Robins’ hosts find themselves up in the Play-Off shake-up, having lost just one of their first 11 games in an impressive start.

Both sides will be looking to get back to winning ways in the third-tier, with Rovers losing 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury Town last Saturday, while Coventry were beaten 4-0 on their travels versus Rotherham United.

Team News:

Connor Jennings will be suspended for the trip to the Midlands following his sending off last weekend.

Forward Jordan Ponticelli will be unavailable as part of his loan agreement with his parent side.

Neil Danns will also miss Sunday’s clash, with the midfielder away on international with Guyana.

David Perkins and Sid Nelson will all be sidelined following recent injuries.

Calum Woods and Morgan Ferrier remain out, likewise Jacob Maddox, Ishmael Miller, Evan Gumbs, Mark Ellis and Kane Wilson.

One to Watch

Forward Jordy Hiwula has scored four goals for Coventry so far this term.

Hiwula joined the Sky Blues in August 2018 and has since made over 50 appearances for the club.

He began his career with Manchester City, coming through their academy in 2012 to turn professional.

Loans at Yeovil Town, Walsall, Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic, Bradford City and Fleetwood Town.

The 24-year-old switched to Coventry last August and has become a key player for boss Robins.
