Setting the scene…

Tranmere Rovers return home to Prenton Park when they host Doncaster Rovers in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon, 3pm kick-off.

Micky Mellon’s men will be hoping to return to winning ways following on from Tuesday night’s defeat away against former Premier League club Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Darren Moore’s Doncaster visit the Wirral after two straight wins in the third-tier, which included a 7-1 victory on their travels at Southend United in midweek, which moved them up to sixth.

Team News

Forward Stefan Payne is suspended for the visit of Doncaster after picking up his fifth yellow card at Sunderland.

Corey Blackett-Taylor and Darren Potter could both return and will be assessed having sat out the defeat to the Black Cats.

Harvey Gilmour, Calum Woods, Mark Ellis, Evan Gumbs are all absentees, as are Ollie Banks, Ishmael Miller and Morgan Ferrier.

One to Watch

Midfielder Kieran Sadlier has impressed for Doncaster so far this campaign, and is their top scorer with five goals.

Sadlier, capped by the Republic of Ireland at U17, U19 and U21 level, turned professional with West Ham United in 2013, going on to spend two years in the Hammers’ set-up.

After leaving West Ham permanently, spells at St Mirren, Peterborough United and Halifax Town followed before he moved across to Ireland in 2016.

Sadlier spent a season playing for Sligo Rovers prior to switching to Cork City.

In December 2018, Sadler, 28, signed for Doncaster and has been a key player in Darren Moore’s squad.
