Setting the scene…
Tranmere Rovers are back on the road on Saturday afternoon when they travel to MK Dons in Sky Bet League One, kick-off 3pm.
Micky Mellon’s men visit Buckinghamshire aiming to return to winning ways after last weekend’s home fixture against Doncaster Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Prenton Park.
Awaiting Rovers at Stadium MK are a Dons side, managed by Paul Tisdale, who have not won for eight games and they find themselves a place below Tranmere, in 20th position.
Team News
Forward Stefan Payne will be suspended for Rovers’ trip to MK Dons after collecting five yellow cards.
Ollie Banks, Harvey Gilmour, Mark Ellis, Evan Gumbs, Calum Woods, Ishmael Miller and Jordan Ponticelli are all sidelined through injury, while Morgan Ferrier is closing in on a return to action.
Darren Potter and Corey Blackett-Taylor could, however, return for Rovers after recent injuries.
One to Watch
Midfielder Alex Gilbey has become a key part of the MK Dons side since his arrival at the club in August 2017.
The Londoner has made over 70 appearances and been a part of a promotion-winning squad following his move from Wigan Athletic two-years ago.
Gilbey started out his career at Colchester United in 2012, where he turned out 110 times either side of a loan deal at Newport County, winning promotion from the Conference in 2013.
In June 2016, he switched to Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, going onto represent the Latics on 20 occasions in the Sky Bet Championship.
Moving onto MK Dons, Gilbey played 39 games as the Buckinghamshire club were promoted from Sky Bet League Two in 2017/18.
