Setting the scene…
Tranmere Rovers are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Shrewsbury Town to Prenton Park in Sky Bet League One, 3pm kick-off.
Micky Mellon’s Rovers return to the Wirral after last weekend’s 4-1 defeat away at table-toppers Ipswich Town.
Tranmere are unbeaten in their last four home outings heading into Saturday’s visit of the Salop.
Sam Ricketts brings his side up from Shropshire, who sit 12th in the third-tier following a 3-0 home loss against Fleetwood Town.
Team News
David Perkins is out following a hamstring injury, while George Ray is doubtful with a groin issue.
Calum Woods and Morgan Ferrier remain out, likewise Jacob Maddox, Ishmael Miller, Evan Gumbs, Mark Ellis and Kane Wilson.
One to Watch
Forward Callum Lang is a loan recruit at Shrewsbury Town this term after linking up with the Salop from Wigan Athletic.
The Liverpudlian came through the youth system at his parent club Wigan, turning professional at the Latics in 2017.
Lang has spent much of his time away from the DW Stadium on loan as he continues his development.
In 2017/18, Lang was loaned to Morecambe, where he scored 10 goals in 30 games prior to netting 13 times in 42 appearances for Oldham Athletic last season.
The 21-year-old’s next temporary switch was to Shrewsbury, where he will spend the entirety of 2019/20.
