Tranmere Rovers midfielder Ollie Banks feels that the Club’s form at Prenton Park will be key in Sky Bet League One this season.

Micky Mellon’s side host Shrewsbury Town for a third-tier fixture in front of the SWA on Saturday, looking to extend a run of four games unbeaten at home.

And Banks, 27, believes that Rovers must make the most of their advantage, starting when Sam Ricketts’ Salop journey up to the Wirral from Shropshire.

Banks said: “We’ve had some good results at home, and obviously struggled a bit away from home, but our home form is going to be big going forward this season.

“You have got to be looking to do well in your home games, but we can’t just bank on our home games, we have to be going away and getting results as well.”

Banks is optimistic that following a busy summer of recruitment at Tranmere, the squad is now gelling.

He added: “We have a lot of new players and a lot of new partnerships which need time to gel together and I think we’re starting to see that now.

“We had a big turnover of players. It takes time to know each other, it takes time to gel, and you can see it every week.

“Although last week’s result didn’t go to plan, you can see the partnerships and organisation coming in, and everyone is starting to bounce off each other a lot better now.”
