Davies: We will have no fear

26 September 2019

Club captain Scott Davies says Tranmere Rovers will go into this weekend’s game at Ipswich Town with no fear.

The SWA travel to the league leaders following a dramatic 2-1 win against Burton Albion last weekend, and the focus is to now build on those three points with a positive result in Suffolk on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the game, Davies said: “It will be a tough game, they are a big Club with a big fan base, but this is why we are in this league. This is why we got promoted and this is why we have worked so hard, so we can face these types of challenges.

“We have no fear, yes, they are a good team, and have they started well, yes, but it is eleven versus eleven, and we will apply ourselves the way we do with no fear. We are going there for the result.

“We are a close group and we have been for a number of years. The core has stayed together and I have said it time and time again, if you come into this football club, there are people like myself, Liam Ridehalgh, Connor Jennings, and staff who are around the place and Tranmere Rovers people, if you don’t know about Tranmere when you step through the door, you will do in a couple of days that is for sure.

“We represent this football club to the best of our abilities and if we all stick together, from top to bottom, we have more chance of getting a result.”

The media also quizzed Davies about his former Tranmere team mate, James Norwood, who now plays for Saturday’s opponents. Davies described Rovers’ number 10 as a ‘good friend’ but all that is put aside this weekend, and the focus is purely on collecting the right result for Tranmere.

Davies concluded: “James is a good player, we saw for ourselves for numerous years how good he was, fair play to him he has gone on and done well.

“We know all about him and he knows all about us, but it is not about that, we are going there with a belief about Tranmere Rovers and the players we have got now!

“Nors has been here, he has had some good times, but he has gone, we move on and we wish him well, he is a good friend and someone I have shared some of the best times of my life with but this is in the past now, we move forward and on Saturday we are competing against him.

“We are going there for a result!”
