Setting the scene…

Tranmere Rovers’ second successive home fixture will see them host Burton Albion at Prenton Park in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon, 3pm kick-off.

Micky Mellon’s men are back in front of the SWA after coming back from two goals down to earn a spirited second-half point against Peterborough United on Tuesday night.

Liam Ridehalgh’s diving header and Ollie Banks’ thumping 30-yard volley secured a well-earned point for Rovers.

Burton head up to the Wirral from Staffordshire after conceding a 95th minute equaliser to let a 2-0 lead slip away at Portsmouth in midweek, as Nigel Clough’s men were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

Team News

New signing Neil Danns is eligible to make his Tranmere Rovers debut this weekend after the midfielder signed on Thursday.

Calum Woods (calf) Kane Wilson (knee), Morgan Ferrier (knee), Mark Ellis (knee), Evan Gumbs (ACL) and Ishmael Miller (hamstring) are all out, while Jake Caprice is a doubt despite returning to training from an ankle injury.

One to Watch

Forward Liam Boyce signed for Burton Albion from Scottish outfit Ross County in June 2017 for a club record-fee.

The Belfast-born player began his career at Cliftonville in 2008 before he switched to German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen in 2010.

He returned to Cliftonville in January 2012 to score 51 goals in 85 appearances prior to a switch to Scotland and Ross County in June 2014.

Boyce was prolific for the Staggies and was the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer in 2016/17 with 23 goals.

The 28-year-old Northern Ireland international linked up with Nigel Clough’s Brewers two-years ago.
