Walters receives Wales call up

27 September 2019

Tranmere Rovers Ladies’ Georgia Walters has been selected for the Welsh national side for their upcoming Euro 2021 qualifier against Belarus on Tuesday 8th October.

Walters has been playing for Rovers for three years and is looking to earn her first cap for Wales after her excellent start to the season.

Speaking about her call up to the Welsh national aide, a delighted Walters said: “I’m absolutely over the moon to have been called up.

“I’ve been on the fringes on a few occasions so to receive my first call up is an amazing feeling just can’t wait to get the ball at my feet, keep working and improving.”

Louise Edwards, Tranmere Rovers Ladies manager, said: “I am really happy for her she has worked really hard to get to this.

“We may not be a Women’s Super League side but still have good players who we work hard on developing into quality players.

It’s nothing short of what she deserves and we are all excited for her.”

Everyone at Tranmere Rovers would like to wish Georgia good luck during her time with the Welsh team.
