HelpLink update - Rovers helping to support over 900 people!

8 April 2020

As you may have already seen across our social media channels, as soon as the Coronavirus came apparent, Tranmere Rovers Football Club started working on a scheme to ensure that vulnerable people who are self isolating could be supported by daily phone calls and assistance with food deliveries.

We recently received an update on the continual results of our work with HelpLink and the difference this is making to various people in our community.

HelpLink have over 900 people already receiving help, who we are now helping to support too as well as making them aware to the new services available to them.

As of April 1st, we have helped to support the following number of new people through this help line .

  • 27 people for a befriending phone call
  • 82 people for a shopping service with many grateful phone calls being received to book again for this week including a lady in Eastham who is 100 years old with no family to help.
  • 27 people for prescription deliveries. This included an 84 year old gentleman who would otherwise have to walk five miles to pick his medication up.

These are the amount of people that have been able to benefit from this however there are many more signing up each day.

We’ve had a brilliant response from people offering to volunteer with this project and we’d like to thank everyone who has helped and has offered to help going forward during this pandemic.

We are more than a football club
