Jackson pleased to add more depth to TRFC squad

10 August 2020

Tranmere Rovers manager Mike Jackson was pleased to add two more midfielder players to his group following Ollie Banks' contract extension and the signing of Otis Khan were announced.

Both players will now link up with the group as Tranmere begin their second week of pre-season training, and Jackson is pleased with the qualities the pair will bring to the group after the signing of Jay Spearing last week.

Speaking about Banks, Jackson said: "We all know of Ollie's qualities from the time he has been with us, he fits in with the type of midfield players that we are trying to bring to the Club.

"He knows the Club, our fans, and he has great ability on the ball. He is a type of midfield player that we need in this group to progress forward.

"It took a little bit of a while like all signings do but we are glad that he is back and he can get going.

"Ollie knows the good times at Tranmere and obviously was part of the group that went through the disappointment of last season. He has got a point to prove, he missed quite a bit of last season through injury and the lad just wants to get going now."

Discussing new recruit, Khan, Jackson said: "He was one of the first players we identified. He is an exciting player and he has played in teams pushing for promotion.

"The fans will really take to him. He is a confident lad, and he has a real enthusiasm for the game. I spoke to him in depth, as I do with all the players and he has a point to prove. I still think he has a lot of room to grow, he is a great age and he will continue to develop.

"That is great for us, as we have a player coming in with ambition, he wants to grow with the Club and he has the room too as well.

"We need different types of midfield players when putting a team together. Over a season, you need to be able to adapt as you go along, so you will need different types of players for certain games. They all bring their own different qualities to the group and Ollie and Otis will add a lot to the group."
