Tranmere Rovers are pleased to announce the signing of defender Calum MacDonald on a season long loan from Blackpool.
The 22-year-old, who has represented Scotland U21s, will provide more competition and options for manager Mike Jackson in defence ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
A product of Derby County’s youth system, MacDonald will link up with former team mate Jay Spearing, and TRFC assistant manager Ian Dawes, with the trio all at Bloomfield Road last term.
Speaking about his latest recruit, Tranmere Rovers manager Jackson said: “I would like to first of all thank Blackpool for allowing Calum to join us on loan for the season.
“Calum is a bright young player with good experience having played a number of games in League One last season. He is a great left foot and he is also good at getting forward too. He glides across the pitch and he will provide us with plenty of different options.
“As we do with all of our signings, including Calum, we have gone through a thorough recruitment process to ensure we get the right people in through the door.
“We need competition for places and we had to make sure we got some full backs in the building and I am very pleased with the two that have joined us this week.
“It takes time to get the right men and we have had to wait and not rush, but we are very pleased with all of the signings we have made.
“Tranmere is a great football club, the infrastructure is fantastic, and we have made great progress in recent years. Calum is a part of our ambition in building a squad to be a part of something, and we always want to improve and we are confident Calum will help us do so.”
