Mike Jackson a key reason why Ollie wanted to stay!

10 August 2020

Tranmere Rovers midfielder Ollie Banks admitted a massive reason behind him wanting to commit his future to the Club was to work with new manager Mike Jackson.

Banks put pen to paper on a new one year contract at Prenton Park, and is now focused on ‘putting things right’ and helping the football club move forwards together.

Speaking to the Club website after signing his new contract, Banks said: “Obviously with what happened last season and the uncertain times we have had in recent months around the world, it is nice to be back at the Campus.

“It is nearly five months since I was last at the training ground, it is good to see the boys and I can’t wait to get back playing football.

“Working with Jacko and his team is a massive reason why I want to stay at Tranmere. As soon as I found out that Jacko was going to be the new gaffer, it made me want to stay even more if I am completely honest.

“Jacko is a very positive coach and I am sure he will take that into being a manager.”

Banks has been keeping a very close eye on what has been happening at the Club, and he can’t wait to work alongside new midfielder Jay Spearing, and also had plenty of praise for all the community initiatives that have been happening, alongside the new pitch.

He continued: “ Jay (Spearing) has had a fantastic career, I met him today for the first time and he seems like a really nice lad. It will be nice to play alongside him and hopefully we will complement each other.

“The pitch looks great from the images I have seen. It looks an unbelievable surface, it looks very well and it is exciting times for the football club.

“Even when I came in on loan a few years ago, the Club was focused so much on the community and it is probably more so than I have seen at any other football club that I have played for. It is nice I can say I am still a part of that.

“It will be nice to get back out there and put things right.”
