Cook confident in squad's quality

7 February 2020

Tranmere Rovers forward Andy Cook believes that the Club has the quality to remain in Sky Bet League One this season.

Cook, who made his Rovers return in a Deadline Day loan switch from Mansfield Town, wants to push on during his second spell in a white shirt.

Having scored 49 goals in 85 appearances between 2016-2018, finishing as Rovers’ top scorer in both of his two seasons on the Wirral, he wants to get the goals that keep Micky Mellon’s men in the third-tier.

And as soon as Bishop Auckland-born Cook, 29, heard of a possible move, he only had eyes for Prenton Park.

Cook said: “As soon as I found out about the interest, I knew what I wanted to do and when I knew that there was interested, I wanted to come back.

“There’s another in this team to stay up, it’s going to the battle, but with the players that we’ve got in here, I don’t see why we can’t do it.

“We’ve just got to take each game as it comes and start trying to get wins on the board.

“I always looked out for the results so for me coming back, it is great for me.

“I want to score goals and keep this Club in League One.”
