Corey confident on climbing the table

27 February 2020

Tranmere Rovers attacking midfielder Corey Blackett-Taylor remains confident that he and his team mates can ensure their Sky Bet League One survival.

Blackett-Taylor, 22, struck a 95th minute winner in Rovers’ dramatic 3-2 victory away at Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night, with the result seeing Micky Mellon’s men move five points from safety.

Attention now turns to Fleetwood Town’s visit on Saturday afternoon, when Joey Barton brings his Cod Army to the Wirral for the 3pm kick-off.

And Blackett-Taylor feels that the Rovers squad have enough fight and confidence to haul themselves out of the relegation places in the third-tier.

Blackett-Taylor said: “We are confident, and we are showing in our performances that we are slowly starting to string things together, and I think that everyone is confident in the group, so I am definitely sure that we can get out of it.

“I think we just have to remain optimistic and keep working hard. We said as a group that we have to keep working hard and not lose belief, but we have to keep working hard and do things right.”

Blackett-Taylor also feels that Rovers must keep the momentum from the midweek three-points, heading into the final 12 games of the season.

He added: “I think it was a much better performance from the team and I was just happy I was able to get the winner at the end.

“We are working hard, so the fact we got a win to go with the performance is definitely going to help us mentally going forward.

“We don’t give up and we need to keep that mentality and the momentum.”
