Micky: We need to concentrate on ourselves

4 February 2020

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon says his side must concentrate on themselves when they host Doncaster Rovers at Prenton Park tonight.

Mellon’s men welcome Darren Moore’s South Yorkshire outfit to the Wirral for a re-arranged Sky Bet League One fixture.

And ahead of the contest, Mellon had his say on Doncaster’s visit in his pre-match press interview.

Mellon said: “At the end of the day, we’ll put a team on the pitch who have got to play well, we’ll go through the tactics and team shape, but we’ll concentrate on ourselves and set the lads up to do their jobs at a League One standard.

“The individuals have got to play well for us to go and get a result, so we’ll concentrate on us, and in the league, that’s all you can do.

“I was disappointed with Saturday, we never competed the way that a Tranmere team should, but that’s football and we have to respond.

“We have to understand that we are playing against a difficult Doncaster side who are very experienced at this level, so it will be a challenge.

“We just need to think about and focus on ourselves, and the lads know that.”

Mellon is also pleased to welcome Manny Monthe back following his one-match suspension as well as returning forward Andy Cook, who can make his second debut in front of the SWA.

He added: “It’s good to have Manny back in the group as we all know what a big player that he is for us.

“We are delighted to have him (Cook) back, he is a good addition to the group with the qualities that he will bring, it’s really nice to have him back.”
