Match Preview: Leicester City U21s

7 January 2020

Setting the scene…

Tranmere Rovers return to action on Tuesday night when they host Leicester City U21s in the Leasing.com Trophy Northern Section third-round, kick-off 7:45pm.

Buoyed by coming back from three goals down to earn a 3-3 draw in Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup third-round tie at Premier League club Watford, attention now turns to a fixture with the Foxes U21s.

A win for Micky Mellon’s men will see them progress to the quarter-finals of the Leasing.com Trophy.

Team News

Liam Ridehalgh and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy remain doubts after festive injuries.

Scott Davies, Mark Ellis, Ollie Banks and Evan Gumbs are all sidelined.

New signing Alex Woodyard is cup-tied having already represented Peterborough in the competition.

One to watch

Forward Admiral Muskwe has impressed for Leicester’s youngsters in the EFL Trophy so far this season.

The 21-year-old signed his first professional contract at the Foxes in June 2016, and he has since impressed in the Club’s development sides.

Muskwe has played in every game of Leicester U21s Leasing.com Trophy journey, scoring twice.

He is also a full Zimbabwe international having previously represented England U17s at youth level.
