Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon is relishing Thursday night’s Emirates FA Cup third-round replay against Watford under the Prenton Park floodlights.
Rovers welcome Nigel Pearson’s Premier League Hornets up to the Wirral for the rearranged fixture, with a fourth-round BT Sport televised home tie versus Manchester United awaiting the winners on Sunday afternoon.
And speaking to the local media ahead of the clash, Micky offered his thoughts in a pre-match press conference.
Mellon said: “The balance of the week and the training days has made us adjust, but we always have a two-day lead up to the game, so we’ll be properly prepared.
“Watford are a very good side and regardless of who is going to play, at the end of the day, they’ll bring in 11 Premier League players so it will be a very, very tough game for us.
“But it is one that we are relishing and looking forward to the challenge of in front of a good crowd.
“We all know that the prize is, so the stakes are high and there’s loads and loads to play for.
“Every game is massive, every game is huge for the rebuilding and for the pride of the Football Club, so it is important that performances and good results against these teams are really important to the Football Club.
“The opportunity to get through to the next-round is huge for us, for those reasons again, but to be able to go out and play against a Premier League team at Prenton Park underneath the floodlights should be very exciting for us.
“So, that’s the way that we will be approaching it, and we’ll hoping to perform well and get a result.
“We all know the prize and for us that’s massive, the opportunity to be able to grab that, no more motivation should be needed but you still need to go out and beat a Premier League team.
“We will go out and give it everything that we have got.”
