Over 100 Replica Tranmere Rovers First Team Shirts donated to local schools thanks to the SWA!

14 July 2020

Tranmere Rovers in the Community have now donated more than 100 2020/21 home shirts to local schools and community centres across the Wirral thanks the members of the Super White Army.
The idea for the initiative came about in June when a generous offer from a TRFC supporter who purchased the new Essar home shirt to donate to children, which encouraged more fans to follow suit.
Since then, we have been able to provide schools and community centres across Wirral with the new TRFC shirt to children who they thought deserved them most.
Wirral Deen Centre, one of the recipients of the shirts, have been working with Tranmere Rovers in the Community for the last 12 months.
The partnership sees local children who use the centre come along to Tranmere Rovers on a Friday for a football session in our recreation centre where we can provide a fun and safe space for the children.
More recently the Club have worked with local mosque and community centre to help provide 200 meals to vulnerable Wirral residents who would normally celebrate the end of Ramadan at the local mosque but due to COVID-19 were unable to do so.
We spoke to Ferdushi, from Wirral Deen Centre about receiving the t-shirts and what it will mean to the children.
She said: "I think it’s incredibly generous first and foremost, Tranmere Rovers Football Club supporters are the most generous football fans I have ever come across especially at this time.
This will make such a massive difference and inspire our children especially as for some of our children they could never actually be able to afford this kind of thing. It will be a memory and something for them to keep for a very long time."
She continued: "The relationship between Tranmere Rovers and Wirral Deen Centre fosters real community cohesion and working together to break down individual barriers.
"Tranmere Rovers Football Club really is at the heart of the community and a real hub, so just thank you."
