Chairman's Statement

13 March 2020

We have today been advised that with immediate effect all football matches will be suspended until at least the weekend of 4th April (Please see EFL statement here).  At this stage it is not possible to know whether the season will resume at that point.

This is undoubtedly very unwelcome news in many respects, particularly as we were starting to gather momentum with our results, but at a time like this football is not the priority and we need to play our part in containing the spread of the Covid-19 virus and keeping players, staff and supporters safe.

Anyone who has bought a ticket for a match during the suspension period can either hold on to it to see if they are able to use it once any recommencement dates are confirmed, or be re-imbursed now for that ticket as follows:

IF ORDERED ONLINE - your ticket will still be valid for the rearranged fixture, if you are requesting a refund, please come to or phone the club store.

IF BOUGHT BY CARD IN STORE - you can obtain a refund over the phone. You will be required to give the card details of the card you paid on, and MUST provide order number that was issued when ticket was bought. You can also come into the store for refund with the same card they paid on and order number; or

IF BOUGHT BY CASH IN STORE - Please come into store for a refund.  We appreciate that many of you may be wishing to avoid public areas at present, and so we will keep this option open until after the present crisis has passed.

We will be working with the EFL and other clubs to deal with a coordinated approach with regard to season ticket holders and will put out a statement on that as soon as the position becomes clearer.

I want to assure our fans that as a consequence of both prudent planning and the investment received this season, we do not envisage the suspension (or even an eventual cancellation of the season) will threaten the existence of the Club despite the significant loss of income that will be the inevitable consequence.  We are better placed than many to weather the storm. Nevertheless it may mean that some of the important projects that we had planned may have to be postponed, which is deeply disappointing.

We face a very serious and unprecedented situation both as a Club and as a country but I am confident that by pulling together we will get through it.
