Ferrier praises SWA after win at Blackpool

11 March 2020

Tranmere Rovers forward Morgan Ferrier feels that the togetherness in the squad has paved the way for three Sky Bet League One wins in a row.

Ferrier, alongside James Vaughan, struck the decisive goals as Micky Mellon’s men battled to a 2-1 victory on their travels away to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night.

Ferrier opened the scoring for Rovers on 38 minutes when he headed in Calum Woods’ cross beyond Chris Maxwell for his ninth goal of the season.

Vaughan doubled Rovers’ lead before half-time, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall pulled one back for Neil Critchley’s Seasiders after the break.

Rovers are now just three points from safety – and Ferrier is confident following an upturn in results.

Ferrier said: “I think the togetherness and the competition that we have got in the squad. We are overwhelmed with quality and you can bring people in, people like Mark Ellis have been massive for us, with Clarkey and Manny, the whole back four were unreal for us.

“We have to keep working hard obviously, and for the likes of me, with Cookie and Vaughany, I can learn off them and just keep on trying to work hard.

“Hopefully as a team we can carry on picking up results.

The togetherness has been massive, and we’ve all stuck together.”

Ferrier also praised the SWA, with almost 1,000 travelling supporters backing the lads.

He added: “For someone like me, they’re the 12th man in games. They give you that inspiration to run ten yards harder, ten yards faster. They’re unreal, and I want to tell them to stay with us for the rest of the season.”
