Tranmere Rovers goalkeeper Scott Davies is prepared for the first of “11 cup finals” when he leads his team-mates out at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night.
Blackpool-born Davies will skipper Rovers against Neil Critchley’s Seasiders as he competes against his hometown club in a Sky Bet League One fixture under the floodlights on the Fylde Coast.
Micky Mellon’s men head into the clash having won their last two games in the third-tier, which has cut the gap to safety down to six points.
And Davies, 33, spoke ahead of the trip to Bloomfield Road in his pre-match interview.
Davies said: “It was much needed. We needed to start winning games, thankfully we’ve put a couple together now, but the hard work has just begun, we’ve got 11 cup finals left and we need to win as many as possible.
“You have to make sure, every game you play in, you fight, so we need more of that going forward.
“I don’t think the performances have been too far away. We’ve had bad ones and we’ve had good ones, but for me over the season, the levels have been there, it was just maybe a bit of luck here, a bit of luck there.
“The last two games have gone, we’ll move onto Blackpool and that’s more important as we look to continue to grow and learn, and we’ll look to get a result.
“Hopefully we’ll go there and do ourselves justice and go and get a result.
“You want to win games of football, you work all hard through the week to do that. We have got 11 cup finals today, so we know what we have to do to get out of it.
“Hopefully we’ll take a big crowd, because I thought the crowd were superb on Saturday. They stuck with us from the get-go and carried us over the line in the last ten minutes when we needed it.
“If everyone is pulling in the same direction, the result will take care of itself.”
