Tranmere Rovers Football Club would like to thank all of those who have donated so far for the Super White Christmas Appeal.
The amount of support we have received so far has been heart-warming and donations can still be made in the lead up to Christmas 2020.
We are also still encouraging as many local business and volunteers to help in order to provide a support mechanism for people in need during the festive holidays.
We will have food drop off points at both the Riverhill Hotel and at the Recreation Centre at Prenton Park. If anyone wants to get involved to help, please email community@tranmererovers.co.uk now.
Dawn Tolcher, Tranmere Rovers Managing Director said: “We appreciate all the donations we have received so far and thank everyone for their support.
“We want people to receive a quality hamper within a time-frame which makes a difference to them and the money is spent effectively.
“We are also looking at handing out vouchers for supermarkets, so people can purchase their own food, so £5 for example, would buy potatoes and vegetables.
“The contact we’ve had with the schools who will be the recipients have highlighted that the need will be bigger than what we even anticipated in terms of families and the challenges that they are going to have this Christmas.
“We’ve had to rethink because we normally maximise the Club as the asset in terms of the events that we run, so we have had to rethink.
“There is a lot of uncertainty and if we can provide these hampers in the time-lines we are trying to do it in, people will have some certainty that they are going to eat at Christmas.”
Ben Harrison, Tranmere Rovers Associate Director, said: “We’ll hopefully continue to receive food and money donations.
“The donations will be going to different schools across Wirral, but we are still in need of volunteer packers towards the end of November to help with the hampers. We appreciate all the donations we receive.
“No donation is too small, it all goes towards helping for a very important cause. The Crowdfunder we have set up has been well received. It has been running for just over a week, and we are nearly half way there to reaching our target.”
