Tranmere Rovers Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Keith Hill as the new first team manager.
Keith is a manager of significant experience and proven success at this level, most notably, every full season he has managed in League Two, he has guided his team to either promotion or sealed a place in the Play-Offs.
An experienced manager, with nearly 700 matches under his belt, Hill has achieved two promotions from League Two, and kept Rochdale in League One for five years, whilst playing an attractive style of football.
He also helped Dale achieve their first promotion in 41 years, alongside helping secure their highest ever league placing and most points secured in a season.
Tranmere Rovers Chairman, Mark Palios, said: “The remarkable job done by caretaker manager Ian Dawes, assisted by Andy Parkinson, meant that we had the time to conduct a very thorough interview process, which was necessary given the number of high quality candidates who applied for the role.
“Keith emerged as the strongest candidate and I am delighted he has accepted the role. Keith has indicated that he wishes to work with Ian as his assistant manager and Andy as a first team coach, which reflects the great job they have done in the interim.
“With Keith’s managerial experience, and Ian and Andy’s knowledge of the current squad and coaching ability, I am confident they will make a very effective team.”
Due to the uncertainties caused by Covid-19, Keith’s appointment is initially to the end of the season, with an automatic 12 month extension in the event of promotion. Keith’s first game officially in charge will be at home to Carlisle United on Tuesday night.
Keith said: “I’m delighted to be joining Tranmere. It’s a Club which has the facilities and the players to achieve promotion and that will be my aim. I can’t wait to get started, and I am only sorry that my first games will be without the supporters in attendance.”
